Software Image Downgrade Procedure from v1.2 or v.1.3 to 1.1.1
Please review these instructions before starting to ensure that you have adequate time scheduled to perform the upgrade as well as fully understand the implications of the process. While all software is tested by Trango Systems on current hardware before being released, it is strongly suggested that you initially perform this upgrade on your lab equipment and not initially in a production environment and test for any and all needed functionality before deploying.
This downgrade will require a two-step process and removal of the configuration. It may not be done over the link (in-band) and will require on-site or via other remote access.
Image upgrade for IDU will be copied to flash during image upgrade (bootimage upgrade idu) and will not affect the working link until the system is rebooted / power cycled.
- Download both the downgrade file and the normal 1.1.1 release to your local computer from Trango’s support portal or FTP.

- Connect Management Ethernet port to PC.
- Start a Telnet or SSH session and enter the config node.
Trango System: TrangoLINK GigaPlus Command Line Interface v1.3.0
(CLI-view)# config
Password: trango
(cli-config)
- Note down the current version of the firmware loaded in the radio (version command). Also note down all frequency, speed, power and other settings as they will need to be reprogrammed after the downgrade. It is suggested that you copy the output of the sysinfo command for reference.
(cli-config) version

(cli-config) sysinfo

- Turn TFTPd service on the Radio ON with commands:
(cli-config)tftpd on
- Send the downgrade image file to target radio. The command examples assume you are already in the same folder as the downloaded files on your PC. You may need to change folders or change the path from that in the examples.
In DOS window, type command:
dos> tftp –i [ip address] put idu_GigaPlus_v1.1.1_downgrade.tar.gz
ip address IP Address of the Radio.
In Mac/Linux terminal window, type commands:
# tftp
tftp> mode binary
tftp> connect [radio ip address]
tftp> put idu_GigaPlus_ v1.1.1_downgrade.tar.gz
tftp> quit
- After the files are transferred on the Radio. Use the “bootimage upgrade idu” command from the config mode on the radio.
(cli-config) bootimage upgrade idu

- Remove the configuration from the radio. This will remove all frequency configuration and other parameters in the radio. It will not reset the management (OBM) IP address or remove license keys. Ensure that you have a copy of all pertinent system information for reprogramming the radio after the downgrade is finished.
(cli-config) config remove
- Reboot the radio:
(cli-config) reboot
- When the radio finishes booting up, login to the radio and access the config node. Then, turn TFTPd service on the Radio ON with commands:
Trango System: TrangoLINK GigaPlus Command Line Interface v1.1.1
(CLI-view)# config
Password: trango
(cli-config)tftpd on
- Transfer the final image file “idu_GigaPlus_v1.1.1.tar.gz” to the radio via tftp.
In DOS window, type command:
dos> tftp –i [ip address] put idu_GigaPlus_v1.1.1.tar.gz
ip address IP Address of the Radio.
In Mac/Linux terminal window, type commands:
# tftp
tftp> mode binary
tftp> connect [radio ip address]
tftp> put idu_GigaPlus_ v1.1.1.tar.gz
tftp> quit
- After the files are transferred on the Radio, the images need to be burned on the flash in the system to the appropriate flash partition. Use the “bootimage” command from the config node on the radio.
(cli-config) bootimage upgrade idu

- The new image will take effect once the radio is rebooted. Reboot the radio:
(cli-config) reboot
- Check the new version on the system with CLI command “version”. It should match with the versions listed below. In case of mismatch version, please open a new ticket.
FPGA version: 0006040A
OS version 2p6r22b0D092810
FW version 1p1r1D092810
PIC version 5
Modem Version 1
SP ODU FW version 27
HP ODU FW version 150410
- Configure the radio as normal, following the steps in the user manual.
Please follow all the instructions as listed above in the instructions. In the case of version mismatch on the system (local/remote/system) the system is NOT guaranteed to work. In the event of a power failure during the upgrade process or any mismatch conflict, please contact technical support <techsupport@trangosys.com> for further assistance. Serial console remote access to the IDUs might be required in the event of such failure. It is suggested that all customers have at least one serial/console cable available at each site.
Please do not make any implicit assumptions.
In case of any doubt please contact technical support for clarification.
