With Smart Mode on, Ethernet ports are internally mapped from one side to another, with common VLAN tags. The VLAN tags allow traffic from one port to be separated from the traffic on another port. Trango VLAN tags are added in addition to existing VLAN tags, via Q-in-Q. If you are already double tagging traffic, smart mode will need to be disabled on both sides. The configuration will need to be saved and the radios will need to be rebooted for the change in smart mode to update the switch programming.
When Smart Mode is enabled, the ports are tagged as follows. This is important to note and understand because with different products and different firmware versions, the port mapping may be different. Trango is standardizing the port mapping going forward, but this table is provided for backwards compatibility.
