TAB-11-0005: TFTP Timeouts When Copying Files

Condition:

TFTP Timeout when trying to transfer files.

Description:

Users have reported problems copying files to radios for firmware upgrades. TFTP is on, but timeouts would occur in transferring the files.

Trango has replicated this problem and found that it lies with a firewall program blocking network access. Trango engineers have observed it occurring even with Windows firewall configured to allow TFTP and with the Windows firewall in the off state.

Solution:

Please follow one of the following steps to resolve this issue:

• Completely disable any firewall applications you may have running on your computer. For the Windows firewall, disable it from the Services MMC.
• Try a different TFTP program.
• Use a different computer/workstation.

Recent versions of firmware have enabled FTP for the transferring of files for ease of use, speed and extended reliability of file transfers. If your firmware supports FTP, we suggest using FTP over TFTP. Products with FTP support include ApexPlus, Sparta and GigaPlus 1.3.
