TAB-11-0006: Antenna Mounting Hardware Locks Up

Equipment:	Trango branded microwave antennas
Condition:	Mounting hardware on the antenna may lock up.
Description:	Users may experience frustrations with installing Trango microwave antenna mounts, including alignment once mounted. It is possible that bolts may be tightened too tight for them to be loosened once the antenna is installed. The problem is isolated to the stainless steel nuts and bolts. While stainless steel provides superior corrosion resistance, it is susceptible to “cold welding” or thread seizure if installation procedures are not followed.
Solution:	Please follow the following steps to resolve this issue: Before installing the antenna, it is suggested that all bolts be loosened. This is especially true for the elevation adjustment including the two bolts that lock it into place. After loosening, lubricate the bolt/nut threads with molybdenum disulfide (moly), also referred to as anti-seize grease. Trango can provide this free of charge and it is being added to all Trango brand antennas with stainless mounting hardware effective immediately. After applying the lubricant, turn the bolts/nuts slowly, and do not over torque the threads (15 ft-lbs max). Be sure to follow the steps in the instructions for which bolts need to be loosened before attempting to adjust the elevation of the antenna.
