Technical Advisory Bulletin: |
TAB-13-0001 |
Severity Level: |
HIGH – Management affecting |
Equipment: |
Trango StrataLINK® 24 |
Condition: |
If IBM is enabled with tagging enabled and the radio is rebooted or power cycled, management access will be lost. |
Description: |
The IP address and IBM settings are not set correctly on boot when tagging is enabled. Tagging will work fine after initial setting, but upon reboot the management connection will be lost. Further, the internal switch is programmed to only allow the selected vlan access to the management port, so access will not be possible. This has been verified with firmware version 1.0.5 and may exist in earlier releases. |
Solution: |
At this time, use out of band management (where the second port is dedicated to management traffic) or use IBM with tagging OFF (where the management traffic is untagged.) IBM with tagging off or out of band management setting does not impact the data flow and tagged traffic will continue to pass on the data port. Alternatively, if IBM tagging is enabled, ensure that the SL24 is not rebooted or power cycled until updated firmware is provided to address this problem. Trango will be releasing firmware version 1.0.6 on or before Friday 22 March 2013 which will resolve this issue. Firmware will be posted to support.trangosys.com and an update will be sent to registered subscribers of the StrataLINK 24 Users list. (Click here to subscribe or manage your subscriptions.)
